The Three Rs in India.

چکیده
Historically, the use of animals for research has been important in the biomedical sciences and in the field of toxicology, but there are ethical obligations on the scientific community to follow the Three Rs of animal experimentation1 (i.e. Refinement, Reduction and Replacement), whenever it is feasible. There are also scientific, economic and regulatory restrictions, as well as societal concerns, relating to the use of animals. As a result, there have been intense research and policy efforts to develop innovative and nonanimal alternatives to animal testing. These efforts focus on both in vitro and in silico approaches and methods. These models can produce quick, appropriate and useful results, and have reduced the use of animals.

متن کاملDetection of Somatic Mutation in Exon 12 of DNA Polymerase β in Ovarian Cancer Tissue Samples
Background: DNA polymerase β (pol β) is a key enzyme of base excision repair pathway. It is a 1-kb gene consisting of 14 exons. Its catalytic part lies between exon 8 and exon 14. Exon 12 has a role in deoxyribonucleotide triphosphate selection for nucleotide transferase activity. Methods: Genomic DNA was isolated from ovarian carcinoma samples. Single strand conformation polymorphism...
متن کاملIdentification and characterization of a Pb, Cu and antibiotic resistant bacteria from soil of industrial wastewater ground
Industrial effluents consist many pollutant and heavy metals. Bacteria isolated from industrial west water ground may have potential to tolerate heavy metal. In this study we isolate a Citrobacter sp. which can resist heavy metal like Cu and Pb. Slurry from industrial west water ground was collected from 22.0663 N, 88.1041 E. The heavy metal content and other parameters of soil were estimated. ...

متن کاملCumulus cell expansion and ultrastructural changes in in vitro matured bovine oocytes under heat stress
Cumulus-oocyte complexes (COCs) from cows were matured under normal (38.5°C) and elevated temperatures (41°C) simulating heat stress and their maturation was assessed based on measurement of cumulus expansion in both groups. There was a significant reduction (P
متن کاملAn Investigation of Stress and Deformation Behavior of Functionally Graded Timoshenko Beams subjected to Thermo-Mechanical Load
A functionally graded material beam with generalized boundary conditions is contemplated in the present study in order to examine the deformation and stress behavior under thermal and thermo-mechanical load. Three discrete combinations of functionally graded materials have been deliberate in including a wide range of materials and material properties. The variation of material properties has be...
